TRANSPLANTING
Transplanting is the act of transfering grafts taken from donor area, to the suitable area. Transplanted area is a whole tissue filled with grafts which are grouped hair roots. During the operation, these grafts are divided as singles and multiples. Divided grafts are planted on suitable areas. Transplanted hairs will not fall, except from 10% risk of loss known worldwide.
Transplating can be done on 6 areas which are hair, beard and moustache, eyebrows, sideburn and scar tissue.
WHO ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR TRANSPLANTING?
- Who Have Severe Health Complications
Transplanting can not be done on who have severe health complications. Especially those who have liver, kidney and cardiac disorders can not have transplanting operation. Specialist that will do the operation controls the process by doing check ups and various tests before the operation for who have severe health complications. Specalists must get and confirmation letter from the doctor of the patients who have cardiac problems or diabetes, as well as doing blood tests and various check ups.
- Who Have Allergy To Anaestesia
Whichever method may be used for transplanting, operation is done under local anaesthesia generally. General anaesthesia can be preferred for this kind of situations. However, if patients have allergies general anaesthesia as well, then transplanting can not be done. If patients know their allergies about anaesthesia, they should inform their specialist. Not only anaesthesia allergic people are prohibited from transplanting, but also those who must not go under anaesthesia are also must not be taken to operation.
- Who Have Blood Transmitted Disease
There are also who have blood transmitted disease, among the patients that want transplanting. Hepatitis B patient can be taken to operation with necessary pre cautions. Especially for operation of those people, the operation should be sterilized and room should be arranged properly. However, patients of diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis C can not be taken to operation. Those who have blood diseases apart from these are also can not be taken to operation.
- Hemophilia Patients
Hemophilia is a genetic blood clotting disease in which bleeding is not stop or stops too late. As there will be bleeding during the operation, clotting ensures grafts to hold and heal. As blood clotting is essential, operation can not be done for hemophilia patients.
- Who Does Not Have Enough Donor Area
Operation can not be done for those who haven’t got enough hair on their donor area. Donor area should be enough to support transplant area in order to get good results.
If the grefts on donor area is not qualified or not enough, the operation can be done also with grefts from other areas.(beard, chest, arm, leg)
How Does The Process Of Transplanting Goes?
The day of the operation is determined if the patient is suitable for operation according to check ups done by specialist. Blood tests are also done in meantime. Following the planning of operation, patient has to follow some instructions.
Instructions:
- If you use alcohol or drugs, stop using mininum 1 week before the operation
- If you smoke, reduce or better quit if possible.
- You should stop consuming blood thinner medications such as Aspirin, ginseng, Vitamin B and E, and multivitamins, herbal products, herbal tees, cherry and tropical fruits 7-10 days before the operation.
- You should give informations to you specialist or doctor if you have any diseases.
- Sleep at least 8 hours night before the operation.
- Shower 1 day before operation or in the morning. Because you can not shower for 3 days after the operation.
- You should do your breakfast with nutritious food before the operation.
- Take your umbrella with you if it is raining on operation day. Do not use your hoody.
What To Do After Transplanting?
General check ups are done after the operation. After check ups, patients should be aware of some instructions.
Post OP Instructions:
- Patients should avoid working, and rest for 2 days after operation. Resting on back as much as possible (all day if possible) should avoid swelling on face. If there is swelling after 2 days, do not worry. They will be gone in 3-4 days. Swelling does not harm your health, it is just visual.
- Washing must be done in 3rd day after the operation.
- Cleaning of scabs in transplanted area takes 7 days. After 10 days, transplanted grafts will fall and from 3rd month, they will start to grow back. The total process in 1 year for front area, and 1.5 years for crown area.
- In first week, patients should protect their transplanted area from any impact. Any impact or friction may end up popping out of grafts. Patients should be carefull especially when going in and out of a car.
- If patients directly need to travel somewhere else, it is essential to have traveller’s pillow. You should not lean your head towards the window or somewhere else. If you fly, it is recommended to rest for 1 day.
- Do not use alcohol for 1 week after the operation as you may need to take painkillers and antibiotics. The given medications should be used regularly and according to information given, if needed.
- Don’t engage any sexual intercourse for 1 week after operation.
- You should not do any activities that can cause sweating and cardio/jogging as well as any heavy and light sports.
- You should not wear any strict neck or turtleneck cloths, wear front buttoned shirt, cardigan for 1 week after the operation.
- You should lay on your back for 1 week. If your crown area is transplanted, then create a height for you neck with either traveller’s pillow or wrapped towel. So you can prevent rubbing your head to pillow.
- First wash up should be done by our expert staff.
- After 1 week of your operation, you will have your clean up session in our clinic. (It is not compulsory to get done your first wash up in clinic. You can do it yoursef in your home by watching the video sent by specialist, and with an help of one.
- Before coming to the clinic for clean up, apply 8 layers of lotion on your transplanted area, each of which are applied onto previous one without cleaning every hour. At the end of the eight hour, apply one more layer of lotion and wrap your head with a cling film then come to the clinic.
- After 7th day of your operation, start to rub your transplanted area with your fingertips while washing.
- Do not go to solarium, sauna, Turkish bath or steam room.
- Do not go for sunbathing and do not expose to the sun too much for 1 month after operation.
- Do not expose to hailing or raining for 15 days after operation. (Carry an umbrella if it is winter as much as possible)
- Do not do heavylifting, volleyball, basketball like heavy sports for 1 months and do not do martial arts for 3 months.
- Do not play football for 1 months and do not hit the ball with your head for 3 months.
- You can only cut your transplanted hairs, you can shave your donor area.
- Do not color your transplanted area for first 6 months.
- The pain and burning feel will be gone on donor area after 1-3 weeks.
- Do not wear hat for too long as it is harmfull for you hairs as it prevent air circulation to your hairs.
- During the 1st year of your operation, come to the clinic for controls every 3 months is possible, otherwise send us your pictures to let us inform you about the process.
